A Saga

Turmoil ruled. The world was crumbling, shaking as if in the midst of an earthquake. Planet Earth was once a blue planet, a bright star full of potential on a milky way. But the atmosphere changed over time, and the star darkened, in body and soul, poisoned by evil forces, strained by mad ignorant men empowered with ego and greed.

Mother Earth endured pain for a long time. She could hardly breathe. It was Godless times, or maybe it was the opposite, war on all fronts. However, that may be, Skadi was lost, and so were the snowflakes. It was freezing cold but only in the heart of mankind, the air was warm and thick of heated heads. Just in opposition to the prophecy.

In the very far north, a tiny kingdom resided. It was a wealthy and healthy nation, better off than most, impregnated with freedom in every sense of the word. The people were friendly, believed in good values, but were not famous for being the first to take a stand or to raise their voice. Some might even call them indecisive and spineless.

*

This is the irony. It was here it happened. There was no sound of a horn, the apocalypse came with a roar. One epic day, all ten million northerners found their spine, stood up like one and roared a roar, so loud, so definite, so honest that the mother had to let them go. The land separated itself, broke loose in frustration. The Earth split open.

*

Like magic, the tall land folded itself up, rolled into a ball and lifted, quite defiantly and confident. It travelled through the troposphere, the stratosphere, through all the spheres and floated away in silence. And far away in a hazy band of lights, it found a new galaxy, planted a tree of life 2.0, named it Skuld and was granted a sun and moon.

*

The mother gave up all the other children as well. With a fire blazing from the heart, she cried. They all shot off like wounded bullets, lifted into space in a cloud of bubbles as if popped from a champagne bottle. All in search of new moons. It is said that destruction is the fate of mankind. But in the ashes of destruction, there is also rebirth.
